The 2021 SLC election will be held on Thursday (20) through Zoom technology.
K. Mathivanan, who wished to contest for the post of SLC President, had formally directed a letter today (18), stating they wished to withdraw from the election. He was joined by Nishantha Ranatunga and Bandula Warnapura, who had intended to contest for the posts of secretary and Vice President respectively.
The letter has also noted that the present administration should be held responsible for the prevailing decline in Sri Lanka's ratings.
Meanwhile, it is said that in this backdrop, present SLC president - Shammi Silva will secure a landslide victory.
The deadline to handover nominations ended at 3.30pm on February 24. Although four factions had initially handed over nominations, one of them was merely a 'shadow faction.'
