No Cabinet approval - Gammanpila
Meanwhile, speaking during a the 360 political discussion programme on TV Derana last night, Minister of Energy - Udaya Gammanpila has said that the LNG agreement with New Fortress Energy was harmful to the country.
He said that the agreement is yet to be tabled before the Cabinet.
"We are yet to see the agreement signed on the night of Sep. 17. According to the pact, the New Fortress Energy gets the monopoly of supplying LNG. You know that unlike China, the US meddles in the internal matters of our country.  This will give them leverage even to say that the entire country will be kept in darkness unless a federal system is introduced. Also, the US has the ability to use this gas monopoly as the magic key to make this country dance to its tune. There is a risk in that. Despite who signed it, it is wrong."
When asked whether the pact could be reversed the minister said, "There are some things that are done after being said. There are also things that are said only after doing them. This falls into the second category."
