Public places out of bounds for unvaccinated persons – Health Minister Featured

Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said that while the Covid vaccine is a voluntary option for the public and the government cannot force anyone to take it, as a democratic government, there is a possibility that a decision would be taken to ban those who are unvaccinated from entering public places for the benefit of the people.

Rambukwella noted that while every person has the right to safeguard their own lives, they don’t have the right to endanger the lives of others.

He added that this rule has been imposed in public places across Europe. Minister Rambukwella said that knowing that those who are unvaccinated could spread the Covid virus in public places, as a responsible government, it is compelled to take such decisions for the greater good of the people.

The minister said that the administering of the third booster shot will commence from November 01st with frontline workers and the security forces personnel given priority, adding that the government is in the possession of two million doses of the ‘Pfizer’ vaccine and have placed orders for another 14.5 million.
