Shiranthi’s Vesak trip to Paris cost Rs. 25 million

When Mahinda Rajapaksa was the president, a group including Shiranthi Rajapaksa had gone to Paris to attend the UNESCO Vesak festival in 2014 and their expenditure, paid by the foreign ministry, for three days was Rs. 25 million, foreign affairs minister Mangala Samaraweera told parliament today (05).

Shiranthi’s total expenditure was 63,945.50 euro, inclusive of a room charge of 14,500 euro per day, while her relative Daisy Forrest had a bill for 6,924 euro, including 1,350 euro as room charge per day, he said.

Also, Shiranthi’s mini-bar use cost 975 euro and Daisy’s telephone charges added up to 1,200 euro, he said.
