Southern Expressway under water

The section between Galanigama and Dodamgoda on the Southern expressway has experienced minor flooding and the vehicular traffic has slowed down as a result.

However, according to the Road Maintenance and Operations Management Director of the Southern expressway S. Opanayake said despite the flooding vehicular operations had not been stopped. He urged the drivers using the Southern expressway to be cautious and control their speed.

He said due to this situation motorists would have to exit from the Dodangoda exit to Kalutaraa dn take the Panadura/Bandaragama road to re-enter through the Galanigama entrance and proceed towards Kadawatha.

Matara Godagama exit:

Meanwhile according to police, no vehicle can proceed to the direction of Akuressa on the Southern expressway through the Godagama exit while only busses and lorries could exit towards Matara.
