Of those arrested, 95 were from the Gampaha district, 68 from Colombo Central, 57 from Colombo North and 33 suspects were from Colombo South.

Charges were filed against 56 illegal garbage dumpers from the Kelaniya area and 53 from the Nugegoda area.

During the two day period 92 illegal garbage dumpers were arrested from the Panadura, Negombo and Mount Lavinia areas, according to police.

Meanwhile, the police said the raids to apprehend those dumping garbage illegally will continue further.
