He said provincial council elections can be held before the O/L examinations, if the speaker of parliament signs before September 15.
Failing which, he said the elections will have to be postponed to January 2018.

If the proposed amended Local Government elections Bill passed in parliament yesterday (25) is to be made into law legalising the elections to be held under a mixed system, the Speaker should sign it, said Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya.
