UN body to censure govt.!

The United Nations, which has been praising the present Sri Lankan government, is to censure it tomorrow (08) when the UN Committee against Torture releases its report on the country in Geneva, ceylonjournals reports.

This is the result of the failure of intelligence chief Sisira Mendis to answer the questions posed to him by the committee in mid-November.

The committee gave 48 hours to the government to reply, but it is reported the answers given are considered unsatisfactory.
