I will see about Vigneswaran - Ranjan

Northern Chief Minister C.V. Vigneswaran had instructed the Northern officials not to provide information to the military in the North without his permission.

He said this while attending a ceremony to declare open a development centre for the disabled at the Killinochchi Depot junction.

Expressing his views the Chief Minister said, “I want to say to all the state officials in the North that if the Army comes asking for information, tell them that I have instructed you not to give them any information without his permission. You must tell them that the information they require would be given to them after having obtained the approval of the Chief Minister.”

“This region is government by the Central Government, the Provincial Council has another governance and in addition, now there is another governance by the Northern Governor. In the end it is the people who have to face difficulty. This is the reason we were asking for a federal governance right from the start. We need to made a request that all nine provinces should have independent governance,” he said.

'Sri Lanka Mirror' inquired about this situation from Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake, who said he is scheduled to tour the North on the invitation of the Chief Minister and that he would respond to him then. He said Vigneswaran is making various contradictory statements these days.
