A new Director General is to be appointed for Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) following the resignation of former DG Ajantha Seneviratne, sources at the Presidential Secretariat said.

However, it was reported that Mr. Seneviratne did not have a proper understanding of the person to whom he should handover his resignation letter.

He had given it to the SLRC Chairman instead of the Mass Media Minister or the Ministry’s Secretary.  Therefore, there has been a delay in finalising his resignation. The latter has reached the Ministry Secretary now.

In the meantime, it is reported that Nipuna Wahalathanthrige, a former director at the SLRC, is to be appointed as the new Director General.

Mr. Wahalathanthrige is a graduate of the University of Peradeniya and a post-diploma holder of the Faculty of Management and Finance at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

He holds a Master’s degree in International Trade Business and Management from the University of Buckingham, UK and is a recognized expert in financial crime investigation and international financial and transaction regulation.

Mr. Senaviratne’s resignation letter is as follows:
