No Tsunami threat to SL

The Meteorology Department stated that there is no tsunami threat to Sri Lanka at the moment following the earthquake near the South of Sumatra.

Therefore, the coastal areas are declared safe, it adds.

An earthquake of magnitude 6.7 struck southwest of Sumatra, Indonesia on Friday, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.

The quake was at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles), EMSC said.
