The number of Samurdhi recipients has gradually decreased since 2020, Samurdhi Director General Bandula Thilakasiri said.
He said that about 1,810,000 families were considered as welfare recipients and given subsidies in 2020.
However, he said that a decrease in the number of welfare beneficiaries can be seen from 2020 to the end of 2022.
Mr.Thilakasiri said the number of recipients has decreased due to the progress of the livelihood development programmes implemented by the government.
