The Government Nursing Officers’ Association has decided to stage a demonstration in front of government hospitals islandwide, during the lunch hour today (Feb. 27).
The protest is held against ‘arbitrary cuts to allowances’ in Budget 2025.
Noting that the protest will be held from 12 noon – 1.00pm today, Vice President of the association – Nalaka Hettiarachchi assured that hospital activities will not be disrupted.
Meanwhile, PHIs in the Eastern Province are also engaging in a token strike today by reporting sick leave.
President of the Public Health Inspectors’ (PHIs) Association – Upul Rohana, stated that the token strike is being held to protest an issue regarding the limitation of overtime (OT) hours.
