The US Commission on International Religious Freedom said that religious freedom has been hindered in Sri Lanka.
Publishing its report for 2023, the Commission said that the attention of the US State Department should be directed to these human rights violations.
In addition to Sri Lanka, it said that religious freedom has been hindered in Afghanistan, China, Nigeria and Nicaragua as well.
The Commission said that the religious freedom of Hindus and Muslims in Sri Lanka has been violated.
It said that some religious leaders have also been arrested and imprisoned.
