The Organic Fertilizer Processing Center at Ulugalawatta in Welimada has started exporting 5,000 metric tons of organic fertilizer monthly, the Ministry of Agriculture said.
Most of this fertilizer is being supplied for a cultivation project in Dubai, UAE.
The measures to increase the production of organic fertilizers at the Organic Fertilizer Processing Center at Ulugalawatta in Welimada under the purview of the National Food Promotion Board were carried out with the participation of Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera.
The minister said that it has been confirmed by the research conducted by the Department of Agriculture that using both organic and chemical fertilizers in recommended amounts leads to high yield as well as increased quality of food.
