The bullet casings found in the garbage truck that was about to collect garbage at the Sri Dalada Maligawa premises have been found during the collection of garbage at the Second Regiment premises, the Kandy Police said.
The municipal sanitation worker, who was arrested on suspicion of the incident, has said that these empty casings were placed on top of the garbage truck for sale.
The casings were seized when a garbage truck belonging to the Kandy Municipal Council tried to enter the heavily guarded Sri Dalada Maligawa premises.
Police found 32 empty casings used for T56 firearms from the garbage truck.
