The Outgoing Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka – Mr. Gopal Baglay called on the Speaker – Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena yesterday (28) in Parliament.
The Speaker stated that India was the first country to offer support to Sri Lanka during the economic crisis faced by Sri Lanka in the past and he expressed his gratitude for that. Furthermore, the Speaker appreciated the High Commissioner of India for his cooperation in developing Indo-Sri Lanka relations during his period holding office.
The Indian High Commissioner stated that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is paying special focus on Sri Lanka and that India holds a favourable stance with regard to Sri Lanka’s debt restructuring.
The Secretary General of the Parliament Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera was also present at this occasion.
