Overseas travel ban on self-proclaimed ‘Bodhisattva’

The Colombo Fort Magistrate Court today (12) imposed an overseas travel ban on the self-proclaimed ‘Bodhisattva’ Mahinda Kodithuwakku.
The Magistrate also fixed the case to be heard on January 17 to consider evidence to issue an order to arrest the suspect.

Senior Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris informed the court that investigations have revealed an organized group had been involved in the racket of distorting Buddhism.

He further said that a policeman attached to the Badalkumbura police station and a female monk previously attached to the State Intelligence Service were also involved with the suspect.

The Magistrate also called for a report on the suspect’s bank accounts.

Kodithuwakku, who returned from Egypt recently was received at the Bandaranaike International Airport by his followers and conducted activities and made statements contrary to Buddhist teachings.
