Intelligence sources have uncovered a dangerous link between Sri Lankan underworld groups and Pakistani drug traffickers, revealing that weapons are being supplied alongside large-scale narcotics transactions.
According to the state owned “Silumina” newspaper, criminal factions loyal to recently assasinated Makilangamuwe Sanjeeva alias ‘Ganemulla Sanjeeva’, are now allegedly planning violent retaliation against the group of Kehelbaddara Padme.
Security analysts indicate that Sanjeeva’s murder has significantly elevated the status of Kehelbaddara Padme among Pakistani drug suppliers, affecting the power dynamics of local drug networks. Intelligence suggests that these traffickers provide heroin and methamphetamine (commonly known as “ice”) on a credit basis, with payments often linked to the operations of organized criminal groups in Sri Lanka.
Furthermore, investigations reveal that along with large-scale drug purchases – particularly transactions involving 100 kilograms or more – Sri Lankan underworld groups are also acquiring firearms such as pistols and T-56 firearms from Pakistani suppliers.
Authorities believe that as Kehelbaddara Padme’s faction gains prominence among international traffickers, rival groups, including those loyal to the slain Sanjeeva, may attempt violent reprisals to reclaim their dominance. Security agencies are closely monitoring the situation as tensions escalate within the underworld, posing a significant threat to law and order in the country.
