Parliament approved the President’s expenditure head by 59 votes.

A total of 62 MPs voted in favour while three NPP MPs voted against.

Some 159 members were absent at the time of voting.

Accordingly, the President’s head includes funds allocated for former Presidents.

NPP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake who called for the division said his party decided to call for a division as it is not proper for Parliament to allocate funds for former Presidents Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Mahinda Rajapaksa who have been held responsible for the economic downturn.
