Parliamentary sessions were suspended a short while ago due to a tense situation.
Government MPs initiated protests inside the chamber as Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa raised a question under 27/2 regarding the Supreme Court verdict on the economic crisis in the country.
Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena had also urged opposition MP – Nalin Bandara to stop videoing the incident.
Despite the continued uproar by government MPs, the Opposition Leader had continued, leading to government members getting up and surrounding Mr. Premadasa. Parliament staff were seen trying to prevent things from escalating further.
