A partial solar eclipse will be visible in Sri Lanka tomorrow, Prof. Chandana Jayaratne, Professor in Physics, and Director, Astronomy and Space Science Unit at the University of Colombo said.

Accordingly, Professor Jayaratne said the partial solar eclipse will be visible from 5.27 pm for 22 minutes in Jaffna and for nine minutes from 5.43 pm in Colombo. However, the solar eclipse will not be clearly visible in the southern parts of the country.

Since the partial solar eclipse occurs at a time when the sunlight is very low, Prof. Jayaratne said that it is possible to witness it with the naked eye.

He also said that a solar eclipse will be visible in Sri Lanka in another 5 years.
