Patali denies using SLAF aircraft for personal use

Published

on

United Republic Front Leader and former Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka refuted claims that he personally used Air Force aircraft during his tenure.

In a statement, Ranawaka labeled media reports alleging such use as false.

He clarified that he traveled on Air Force flights only three times, accompanying former President Maithripala Sirisena, former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, and former Speaker Karu Jayasuriya for government events.

The reports, citing Sri Lanka Air Force Headquarters under the Right to Information Act, claimed 66 flights were used by 15 former ministers from 2019 to 2020, including three allocated to Ranawaka. However, he called the generalization of ministers misusing Air Force aircraft a “slanderous and distorted report.”
