The Petroleum Product (Special Provisions) Bill was passed in Parliament today (18) with amendments.
Accordingly, 77 votes were received in favor of the bill and only 17 votes were received against.
Earlier today, a number of trade unions attached to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) decided to call in sick, as a mark of protest against the aforementioned Bill.
Petroleum Trade Unions Alliance Spokesperson Dr. Ashoka Ranwala said the distribution of fuel can be disrupted due to the trade union action.
