The Society of Government Pharmacists (SGP) has launched an island-wide token strike today (16) from 8 am.
SGP President Thushara Ranadeva said that the strike is being launched against the sudden transfer of a group of pharmacists of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA).
Drug dispensing counters have been closed in many government hospitals due to the strike, but the Union said that the strike will not be implemented in government hospitals that provide emergency treatments.
