The Department of Wildlife Conservation announces that the Pigeon Island National Park in Nilaveli has been temporarily closed to visitors, with the commencement of the North East monsoons.
The measure has been taken to ensure the safety of tourists and boat passengers, the department adds.
Due to the monsoons, the seas off the East of Sri Lanka will remain rough until the month of February.
However, tourists will be allowed to visit on calm days, which cannot be predicted, the Department notes.
