It is reported that several Buddhist monks including Ven. Senior Prof. Pathegama Gnanissara Thero, have made a request to the Chief Prelate of the Malwathu Chapter to expel Ven. Pitiduwe Siridhamma Thero from the sect.
They have made the request after paying a visit to the Chief Prelate of the Malwathu Chapter – Most. Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera earlier this week.
Ven. Pitiduwe Siridhamma Thero faces allegations of not heeding to previous warnings by the Chapter and continuing to engage in business activities, hurting sentiments of monks from other sects, causing great harm to the Sasana and the religion itself.
This conduct has caused disrepute to the Malwathu Chapter as well, the monks have pointed out.
Last November, Ven. Pitiduwe Siridhamma Thera was strongly advised by the Mahanayake and Karaka Maha Sangha Sabha of the Malwathu Chapter to avoid making sermons by distorting Tripitaka and the Buddha’s character.
