Activist Piyath Nikeshala was granted bail by the Colombo Fort Chief Magistrate.
The Chief Magistrate ordered to release Nikeshala on a personal bail of Rs. 500.000/-.
Piyath was arrested on Jan. 29 by the Computer Crime Investigation Unit (CCIU) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) under charges of violating public order, creating public dissatisfaction with the government, and posting videos with the intention of provoking the public.
Following his arrest, he was presented to the court on Jan. 30th and ordered to be remanded until today’s hearing.
