Police had opened fire at a speeding car that had failed to follow orders to stop.
According to Sri Lanka Police, officers had ordered car to stop based on a tip-off that drugs were being smuggled in the car.
However, the driver of the car had failed to comply with the order and sped away, compelling police officers to open fire.
Police said that shots were fired at the vehicle’s tyres and no one was injured.
Three people were arrested in connection to the incident.
