Police have launched an investigation to arrest an Island Registered Criminal (IRC) who is alleged to have threatened MP Dayasiri Jayasekara’s son who was with his girlfriend in a car in Bambalapitiya and had robbed cash and a white gold necklace worth Rs 160,000.
Police said a complaint was lodged with the Bambalapitiya Police on Monday evening that a man who was asking for money had threatened the MP’s son with a knife on his neck when he was with his girlfriend and had stolen a white gold necklace and Rs. 3,000 in cash.
The suspect had asked for money first and after the MP’s son had said that there was no money, the suspect had pulled out a knife from his waist and put it on the MP’s son’s neck and threatened him.
He then had stolen the white gold necklace and Rs. 3,000 from the wallet on the dashboard of the car.
The Bambalapitiya Police said they have identified the suspect and will be arrested.
