The Police Headquarters has requested the Attorney General to file an appeal challenging the release of Inter-University Students Federation Convener Wasantha Mudalige.
He was detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).
On Tuesday (31), the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court ordered the release of Mudalige from the main case relating to alleged offences committed under the PTA.
Accordingly, the Police Headquarters requested the Attorney General to submit an appeal in a higher court to revise the Magistrate Court’s order.
