The Ministry of Transport has taken a policy decision to recruit women to the transportation sector, including bus and train services, Minister Bimal Rathnayake has said.
He said this in Parliament today (March 07), during the debate on budget allocations for the Ministries of Transport.
The minister said the policy decision will be implemented in line with International Women’s Day, which will be held tomorrow.
He also hoped that Sri Lanka will be able to see female bus drivers and train pilots and guards in the next year.
