Port City attracts USD 2.5 bn worth investments

Two regulations under the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Act are to be submitted to Parliament today (22), it was reported.

Accordingly, the regulation to grant permission for investing in the Colombo Port City project and the proposal for the fees to be charged for the same will be submitted to Parliament.

Meanwhile, the port city administration said both local and foreign investors have expressed their interest to implement investments worth about USD 2.5 billion in the port city.

It was said that the basic construction of the port city is expected to be completed before the end of this year.  Accordingly, the Port City Commission said that several more features will be opened for the public in the future.

Meanwhile, the government refused to allow for a debate on the current situation in the country to be held today as requested by the Opposition MPs.
