Minister Vijitha Herath had visited the Colombo Port yesterday (Nov. 07) to look into the existing issues including prolonged delays in container clearances.
Officers had expressed concerns on container clearance delays that had been ongoing for about two years.
Daily dispatches, previously 1,800 – 2,000 containers, have decreased due to irregularities and improper processing orders.Officials have requested the minister to provide them with the opportunity to carry out container clearances efficiently, without corruption or interference.
