Deadline for submitting postal voting applications, extended (Update)

The deadline for submitting postal voting applications, originally set to expire at midnight today (Aug. 05), has been extended, Commissioner General of Elections Saman Sri Ratnayake says.

The deadline has been extended until midnight on Friday (Aug. 09). 
This extension comes in response to concerns over potential postal delays and numerous public requests for additional time.

Postal voting application deadline today

As the clock ticks down, the Election Commission announced that today, 5th August, marks the final day for submitting postal voting applications related to the upcoming presidential election.

The election commission requested that those who have not applied for postal voting yet, to visit their designated district election office before midnight to submit the application.

The 2024 presidential election is scheduled for September 21

A total of 14 candidates have deposited the required security money. Among them, 8 represent recognized political parties, while 5 are from other political parties or are independent candidates.

On the 15th, from 9:00 am to 11:30 am, nominations will be accepted.

Enter your National ID number and registration district to confirm your voter status.
