President meets global development partners

Representatives from several international development partners have convened for a round table discussion with the President, Prime Minister and Government Officials in Colombo today (31), the President’s Media Division states.

The discussion was a follow-up to the previous one in December 2022 and was attended by representatives from global bodies including the World Bank (WB), Asian Development Bank (ADB), International Monetary Fund (IMF), Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), International Federation of Compliance Associations (IFCA), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), European Union (EU) and United Nations (UN).

The focus was on the Government’s reform programs aimed at moving from crisis to recovery and sustainable growth and challenges, opportunities & commitments for Sri Lanka’s development were discussed, the PMD adds.

Special notice for Lankans in S. Korea

The Sri Lankan Embassy in South Korea has urged Sri Lankan nationals living in the country to remain vigilant over the wildfires originated in Central Uiseong County.
Issuing a statement, the Sri Lankan Embassy in South Korea has requested Sri Lankans to refrain from visiting the affected areas, as possible.

They have also been requested not to use flammable products such as barbecue equipment.

Sri Lankans facing any emergency or distress due to the wildfires have been urged to contact the Sri Lankan Embassy via the following hotlines;

High Court judge recuses from ‘Krrish Case’

Colombo High Court judge Manjula Thilakaratne today (March 27) recused himself from the ongoing ‘Krrish’ case.

The case is filed against Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa over an alleged misappropriation of Rs. 70 million related to the Krrish transaction.

Udugampola acquitted from Millennium City case

The Colombo High Court has acquitted former Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kulasiri Udugampola from the charges of revealing confidential information regarding Army intelligence personnel.

Colombo High Court judge Adithya Patabendge issued this verdict following an extended hearing of the infamous ‘Millennium City case’ for over a period of 20 years.

The former ASP was charged with undermining national security through raiding a safe house used by Army intelligence personnel at Athurugiriya Millennium City housing scheme on Jan. 02, 2002 and publicizing information regarding Army officials and their covert operations.
