President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has forwarded the names of three senior High Court judges to the Constitutional Council (CC) for consideration to fill vacancies in the Court of Appeal.
The nominees, recommended by Chief Justice Murdhu Fernando, are:
1. Judge Sumudu Premachandra – Kandy High Court
2. Judge K. Priyantha Fernando – Commercial High Court (Colombo)
3. Judge A. Premashankar – Trincomalee High Court
Notably, the names proposed by Attorney General Parinda Ranasinghe were not included in the final list.
The Constitutional Council is scheduled to meet on Wednesday to review the nominations and make a decision.
