Director General of Trade Unions to the President, Saman Ratnapriya has revealed that a presidential election is likely to be held in 2024.
Speaking at a public event in Badulla, he said that no elections will be held this year.
“There will be no elections this year. 2024 is the election year itself. We understand and feel that the first election that is to be held is a presidential election. We are preparing for that now. I propose to appoint Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe as the President in 2024 by a mandate,” he has said.
