The Police Narcotics Bureau officers (PNB) on Saturday arrested a prison guard with weapons, ammunition and drugs in Rajagiriya.
According to preliminary investigations the weapons are said to belong to several underworld criminals including notorious drug trafficker ‘Gotha Asanka’.
The officers of Police Narcotics Bureau had found a T-56 weapon, a pistol, a T-56 magazine, over 400 rounds of live ammunition, six grams of heroin, 700 milligrams of cannabis and 200 milligrams of Kush.
Police said that the arrest was carried out based on information uncovered during interrogation of a suspect apprehended by Police Special Task Force (STF) on August 9, which led to the recovery of a pistol. The Police are investigating the matter further.
