The entry of private vehicles into National Parks without the guides of the Wildlife Department has been suspended.

Wildlife and Forest Conservation Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said that this decision will be implemented until the investigations related to the incident where a group of people drove vehicles in a reckless manner in the Yala National Park, are completed.

He said the Wildlife Department has reported the facts to the Tissamaharama Magistrate’s Court over the incident and has taken necessary legal steps.

Meanwhile, an investigation is underway at the ministry level regarding the six tour guides and the wildlife controller who were on duty at the time of the incident.
