The Ministry of Enterprise Development and the Health Ministry has called for project proposals from local and foreign investors interested in cultivating marijuana for export and producing medicinal products with it.
The Enterprise Development Ministry said this decision was taken due to the international demand for marijuana medicinal products.
This project comes under the scope of both the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka and the Department of Ayurveda; the monitoring of the cultivation and production will be under the purview of the Department of Ayurveda, which will also be tasked with issuing the licenses.
The project proposals will be accepted at the BOI till 10 July.
