Pvt. health insurance scheme for court judges

The government has launched a special health insurance scheme for all court judges from June 17.

The Judicial Service Commission has instructed all High Court Judges, Civil Appeal High Court Judges, District Judges, Magistrates, and Labor Tribunal Chairmen to register for the coverage if desired.

This scheme covers over 350 court judges, according to the Ministry of Justice and National Integration.

Its Secretary – President’s Counsel Ayesha Jinasena, said that this health insurance cover of Rs.500,000 subject to outdoor treatments of Rs.35,000 and to bear 75% of its subscription by the Government, will be implemented through a private insurance company for the period of June 17, 2025, to June 16, 2026.

The Ministry further states that judges can also have their spouses and children as beneficiaries and the premiums to be paid by judges can be paid in 04 installments.
