A QR code will be introduced instead of tickets for train and bus passengers, Transport Minister Bandula Gunawardana said.
He said that the programme will be implemented this year.
The minister pointed out that some bus drivers and conductors have failed to handover the stipulated revenue fares to the depots. “This happens in trains as well,” he said.
Therefore, the minister said that a system will be introduced to obtain the ticket by commuters themselves through a new QR system.
