The low-level atmospheric disturbance over the island still persists due to the influence of low-pressure area development in the South-west Bay of Bengal, the Department of Meteorology states.

Winds will be North-easterly or variable in direction and wind speed will be 20-30 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50-55 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Pottuvil via Kankesanthurai, Puttalam, Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.
