The All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama has announced that Muslims in Sri Lanka will begin a month of fasting for Ramadan from tomorrow (March 12).
Also known as Ramzan, it is the 09th month of the Islamic calendar which people observe as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection while engaging in humanitarian activities.
People observe a fast for which they wake up early in the morning to have their first meal, and in the evening, they break their fast with the ‘iftaar.’
The end of the holy month is celebrated as Eid-ul-Fitr.
