The warrant issued by Kandy Additional Magistrate Mohammad Rafi on June 21 against former MP and veteran actor Ranjan Ramanayake for failing to appear in court over a case being heard has been recalled.
The warrant was recalled after Mr.Ramanayake appeared in the Kandy Magistrate’s Court through a lawyer yesterday (22).
Warrants were issued against him due to his failure to appear in a case filed by the Kandy Special Crime Investigation Unit in 2010 in connection with an incident of defrauding Rs.1 million from a teacher of a school in Katugastota by promising to marry her.
When he appeared in the Court yesterday, the Judge gave him a stern warning and ordered him to appear in court on the next court date, September 6th.
