Ranjan Ramanayake, who was on his way to participate in a concert in the US, was prevented from leaving the country by the immigration officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake yesterday (27).
The Immigration Unit at the BIA said Mr. Ramanayake has a foreign travel ban against him.
Mr. Ramanayake said that he was banned from travelling abroad in connection with a case regarding the distribution of rice during the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said the court case has been closed and the foreign travel ban has been lifted but the relevant departments have not been informed about the decision.
