Dr. Deepal Perera, a specialist at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital, said that a fever is spreading rapidly among young children at present.
He said that children show symptoms such as cough, cold and vomiting along with this fever.
The doctor asked the guardians to give liquid food to the children, keep the children at home after giving a dose of paracetamol and make them wear a mask when they go out.
He stressed that children who attend nurseries and daycare centers should be kept at home if they have symptoms, and to conduct a full blood count if they have a fever for more than three days.
