Cabinet spokesman – Minister Vijitha Herath said that the government will not accept the does not accept the investigative committee report on the Easter Sunday bomb attacks, which was released by former MP Udaya Gammanpila yesterday (Oct. 21).

The report in question was issued by the committee headed by retired Judge A.N.J. De Alwis.

Speaking during the cabinet briefing held today (Oct. 22), Minister Herath said that they will not accept the report as it is politically motivated and targeted former Senior Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ravi Seneviratne and former CID Director Shani Abeysekara after they joined the National People’s Power’s (NPP’s) Retired Police Forum.

The minister also said that Seneviratne and Abeysekara will not be removed from their posts for any reason.

He further pointed out that neither the Presidential Commission led by Supreme Court Judge Janak de Silva nor the Parliament Select Committee (PSC) had held Ravi Senaviratne or Shani Abeysekera as being responsible for the Easter Sunday bomb attacks.

However, the government will not hesitate to take action against any officials if found guilty following a proper investigation, he had said.
