Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis issued a warrant yesterday (11) ordering the arrest of the software engineer who allegedly created the website of Onmax DT, a private company which has been banned by the Central Bank for carrying out illegal pyramid transactions.

The warrant was issued to Gayan Chamara Wickramathilaka (31), the owner of VTech software company, resident of Welihenpita Road, Rukmale, Pannipitiya.

When the case related to this incident was called before the Court yesterday (11), the warrant was issued because the suspect software engineer failed to appear in Court.

The Financial and Commercial Crime Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) appeared before the court yesterday (11) with a further report on behalf of the complaint.

The CID requested the court to issue an order to send several devices including a mobile phone and two computers seized from the suspect’s possession to the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Forum and call for an analysis report.

Accordingly, the Magistrate who issued the order adjourned the case until February 15.

The five directors of Onmax DT named by the Attorney General as suspects related to this incident were arrested by the CID on November 3 last year. Later, the court ordered the remand of the suspects and on November 16, the order was issued to release them on three personal bails of Rs. 100,000 each.
